Fall Zoo Day!

We went to the Houston zoo yesterday! I found out a few weeks ago that every first Tuesday of the month from 2-close the zoo has free admission! It gets pretty expensive for all of us to go, so I thought this would be great to take advantage of. I talked to Holly about going and Ethan and Ella were super excited, too. We picked the kids up from school at 1:00 and headed up to Houston to be there around 2!
I was a little worried about how crowded it would be, since it was a free day. But when we got there there were plenty of parking spaces and no lines! We thought that maybe because school was still in it kept the crowds down. Score!
The weather has been so beautiful lately. It was a little warm yesterday afternoon, but there was a nice breeze and lots of shade. Cooper took her morning nap from 10-12, so she didn't take a nap on the way up. Kendall fell asleep for about 20 minutes, though, so at least she got a short nap. The girls did so great - I was very proud of how Kendall listened and Cooper rode in the wagon the whole time and was so big!

Kendall and Ethan loved checking out the lions. They were very active - running around and even roaring! They loved it!
I had the hardest time getting a picture with both girls looking at the same time. I think this is one of the times Kendall was fussing at me for asking her to look at the camera for the millionth time. Oh well - there's her face!
Kendall's most favorite animal in the whole world: the rhino!

And her other most favorite animal: the otter! She sat and watched them play for a long time. :)
My little monkey!
"Look Mom! A Cebu!" We love singing the Cebu song from Veggie Tales - she was excited to see one in real life!
The last thing we had to make sure we saw: the Komodo Dragon. He was laying right next to the window, so Kendall and Ella just laid right down next to him and watched him.
I have wanted to ride the Hermann Park train that is right outside the zoo for so long now, but we always come to the zoo in the morning and leave when it's naptime. But yesterday we were leaving a little before 5 and were going to stop in Pearland at Chick-fil-A for dinner on the way home. We figured we would be sitting in traffic either way, so we decided to hang around a little longer and ride the train! I was very excited.
This was Kendall's first time to ride the train, too. I have such great memories of riding the Forest Park train outside the Ft. Worth zoo with my family after we would visit the zoo, so I was excited my girls would get to do this!

We had such a fun day at the zoo and are already planning on trying it again on the first Tuesday in November! Yay for fall and the zoo and fun days with my girls and our best friends!!!
