New Red Wagon!

Pops and Kiki came in town for the weekend today! We have been so excited to see them and spend a couple of days together. They brought Kendall some presents, including her very own red wagon! She was so excited. Pops put it together last night before they came down and we put Kendall in it for a ride when she woke up from her nap. They had a lot of fun riding around on the driveway and going to get the mail.

Molly even got it and enjoyed the ride, too! She could have jumped out, but she stayed in! So funny.

It will be so much fun to take her trick-or-treating tomorrow in her new wagon! We can't wait!
Thanks Pops and Kiki! We love you!

Cutest Puppy Ever!

Pumpkin Patch...Day 2!!

Kendall and I went to the pumpkin patch again this evening! We met the girls there and took a group picture of all the babies in their Halloween costumes. I'm not sure that we were able to get one where they were all looking, but just the fact that we got one with all of them in it was amazing! Now that they are all mobile, it's hard to get them to all sit still at the same time!

Kendall loves her puppy dog costume! Thanks Nacho (and Porter!)!!! I think she likes the hat the best. When we put it on her she just smiles the whole time and shakes her head back and forth sometimes. I think she can feel the floppy ears on top and she likes it.

Starting with Kendall (the cutest puppy in the world!) and going clockwise: Blake is the turtle, Ethan is Donald Duck, Sarah Grace is the tiger, and Lawson is Peter Pan. So cute!

Lawson loves Kendall. He was kissing her (with a little help from his big sister) and then hugging her. I'm not sure what Kendall thought about all that. I think she's just happy to be in that wagon again!

Kendall and Sarah in the wagon.

I know she's sitting down, so this measurement isn't quite accurate, but it was a cute sign. Why not put a cute puppy in front of it and take a picture? She'll stand in front of it next year. :)

And finally, here are some pictures of Kendall on the green tractor! She loved it!! She sat there for a long time and honked the little red horn. I was busy taking pictures and video and thought she was so safe because I was so close, but eventually she fell sideways into the bale of hay!! I felt so bad. She didn't cry for long, but there were tons of people around that saw. She has never fallen before in her whole 9 months and the first time has to be in front of the whole pumpkin patch. Great. In one of the videos you can hear Holly laughing in the background. She saw Kendall fall and after I made sure she was ok, she yelled out, "Mom of the Year, right there!" Ha!! Who's the one making their son run around in a duck suit? Not this mom!

This next one is my favorite. I love that grin!!

As soon as I can load them, I'll post some videos!

Pumpkin Patch Videos

9 Month Check-up

Even though Kendall won't be 9 months old for one more week, we went to Dr. B for her check-up today. Randy leaves for leadership team retreat on Sunday and will be gone until Thursday of next week, so we bumped up her appointment so he could come. Dr. B said she looks great! He actually told us she is very strong and healthy. She weighed 21 pounds, which is only half a pound more than at her 6 month check-up. She is also 28 1/4 inches long. This surprised us because we think she seems so much longer these days and that is only 3/4 of an inch longer than at her 6 month appt! She is in the 90% for weight and the 75% for length. Still a big girl!

We talked with him about what she has been eating lately and what she is ready for now. Currently, she eats three times a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She nurses and then eats fruits and veggies. We've tried meat but she doesn't really like the texture of it. We talked with him about weaning her, which we've decided to do this next month, and he told us we can just go straight to whole milk. Yea!

She wasn't due for any shots at 9 months, but I asked about getting her flu shot and he told us we could do that today. She was not happy about it! Our friend Teresa had to give it to her and she was sad to be the one to do it! Then we had to go to a different place to get some bloodwork done. At 9 months they check iron levels for anemia. So, she got all calmed down from her shot and then they had to prick her little finger and squeeze a lot of blood out! That was the worst yet, because it wasn't just a quick little shot. She was a trooper though and after taking her home for a nap, we rewarded her with a trip to the pumpkin patch!
Here is a picture of the bandage they put on her finger after they drew blood. She could not figure out what that thing was!

Trying to calm her down for a nap. She was so tired and ready to just be left alone! I love this sweet girl!!!

Pumpkin Patch

Today we took Kendall to the pumpkin patch after we went for her 9 month check up. It was so much fun and she loved it! We figured we would get some cute pictures but that she wouldn't really get to enjoy a whole lot of the activities they had since she is still so little, but she started smiling the minute we got there and never quit! She loved looking at all the pumpkins and riding in the red wagon. We took a few pictures and then our camera batteries ran out! We will have to go back and let her play more because she had so much fun. One thing we didn't get a picture of was her sitting on a little green tractor they had. She was so cute!

Look at the face she is making in the wagon! Dad thinks Kendall needs her very own red wagon to ride around in on Halloween. We may have to go get one this week!

We had so much fun and will have to go back to get more pictures and let Kendall play around some more. We'll post more pictures soon! I also took a few videos of Kendall in the wagon. I'll get those up as soon as I can. Happy fall!!

DARAJA

We have had one of the coolest weekends of our lives! We had the Daraja Children's Choir of Africa at Brazos Pointe this weekend. They are group powered by the 410 Bridge, which is the ministry we partner with for our missions in Kenya. Daraja came this week to do concerts in Lake Jackson and at Brazos Pointe. It was a HUGE success and an AMAZING weekend!!
Ashley, Kendall, Molly and I had the joy of hosting three of the most sweet and beautiful Kenyan boys in our home from Thursday until today. It was so unbelievably fun! We want you to meet these three guys that we love, and their chaperone Moses, who we also love.
Michael is from Havila, a children's home in Kenya where our BPF team has been!
Antony is from Stars for Jesus, another orphanage outside of Nairobi, Kenya.
Rodney lives near Havila with his siblings and his single mom.
Moses is just a super cool guy, who has an 8 year old and 2 month old, that are in Kenya with his wife, May. Having these four guys in our home has been an overwhelming joy!!!
All four of them LOVE Kendall and Molly!!
This is Michael, Rodney, (Kendall), and Antony...with Moses in the back.
Kendall loves her new brothers!

Mr. Moses loves "beautiful" Kendall very much!
Showing me pictures of their home in Kenya.
They loved my famous spaghetti!!
Hanging out with Antony!
Kendall's buddy, Rodney.
Everyone loved playing with Kendall's new zoo!

Kendall's new best friends: Rodney and Michael (Antony must have been playing the Wii or riding the bike)!!
More picutres to come!! Daraja is here until Tuesday, even though our guys had to move on to another host home (because somebody decided we had to share!!!). We are so sad that they had to leave, but we are excited that we get to spend two more days with them!!
We love you DARAJA!
