
With his passing, Grapevine is losing one of its historical figures. Born on July 4, 1927, H.J. lived in Grapevine for 82 years. He was a local commercial and home builder. H.J. was the quarterback for Grapevine High School in 1944. After graduation, he joined the Navy and served with his two brothers during World War II. He was married for 53 years to Betty Laminack Harper and had three children.
Survivors: Wife, Betty Harper; daughter, Lisa Harper Wood and husband, Mark; sons, Henry Jefferson "Jeff" Harper III and wife, Cristina, and David Clinton "Clint" Harper and wife, Christi; grandchildren, Maegan Eason, Ashley Dane and husband, Randy, Alden Johnson and husband, Scott, Michael Callan and wife, Ileana, Alexandra Harper, Andrew Harper, Jaden Harper and Jarren Harper; great-grandchild, Kendall Dane; and sister, Mildred Harper Scott.

I read this with tears, so thankful for a daughter and son-in-law that would honor a grandfather in such a beautiful way. I feel so bad for Lisa and her loss and am so happy to see all involved have not lost their sense of humor! I did not know H.J. that well, but I bet he would be very pleased about that!
